May 26, 2007 - Deep sea trawling in south Pacific ended by treaty.
May 27, 1907 - Rachel Carson (author of Silent Spring) was born.
May 28, 1892 - The Sierra Club was formed.
May 31, 1889 - A dam in Johnstown, PA collapsed and killed 2,209 people.
