Watch & Learn: Cycling in Copenhagen

Man.. This made me want to ride my bike to work or at the very least get out and ride somewhere. Too bad work is just a little out of reach. If they could somehow connect the Big Creek Greenway to the historic district, I suppose I could make the 12 mile trek to Alpharetta every once in a while.. wishful thinking.

Wow - Great Video! If we had bike lanes everywhere I don't think it would alter the Amercian mindset from driving across the street to the neighbors house but it would be awesome if we had the ability to try...

Bob, I think it really has to do with perceived safety. When I lived in Alpharetta, I used to ride my bike to work from Cumming St to Windward Plaza. That was 2.5 miles with most of it along Windward. The bike lane at the 400 interchange was nice but all of the rest was pretty nerve-wracking. Until, the municipalities can do something to create a perceived sense of safety for riders, we won't see a true critical mass of people commuting. But, that depends on many things which probably starts with land use patterns. I'm surely not going to regularly ride 13 miles to work and most Atlantans will never consider it. Neighborhood proximity has to be a consideration too. I think we're getting that but it's a long road to get from where we are now to where we need to be. - Mike
