Could We Use a Traffic Garden?

I thought this video was really interesting and wondered if something like the traffic garden in the clip could work here in the US. The Netherlands has done an incredible job reducing the death rates on its roads over the past 50 years and I can't help but think that it's ideas like this that help make a difference.

I also thought it was interesting that the speaker used the term 'traffic exam' instead of driving exam when he was referring to the test his daughter had to take before getting on the road. It's definitely a different way of thinking.

This is a great video. Yes, I agree with you. I think if people will do more videos or write articles like this one, the death rates caused by accidents on roads will be reduced.

People should make more videos like this. This will help raise kids' awareness about safe driving. This is better than learning new strategies for computer games which most kids would prefer to do.

This traffic education park looks like a great idea that could bring multiple returns on the investment in Roswell.

Across our region, current driver training seems not to meet needs based on automobile drivers' knowledge and/or use of safe rational behavior and courtesy on our streets.

Roswell has parks with open space and buildings that might accommodate a first-class facility with minimum capital outlay. Fulton County and State of Georgia Highway Safety might be convinced of the economies and efficacy of their investment in this program, here.

It could increase our regional contribution to the public benefit and, concurrently, enhance Roswell's reputation and exposure of more customers to our businesses and services.

Couldn't agree more with you Richard. The Cobb Safety Village looks like it has been a success and might serve as a model for something here in Roswell. Rob commented up above on the Safety Town annual program for 4-6 year olds. The idea should be expanded.

There are a couple of main differences that I can see between the Dutch model that was highlighted in the post and something like what we have here in Cobb with Safety Village is that the Dutch are teaching their kids how to bike in traffic safely and that they are having their kids lear once or twice a year. I could be wrong but I doubt that the Safety Village is a once or twice a year event for kids in Cobb County.
